An Interview with Silks 25 Oct 2019
An Interview with Silks of Cheltenham
We caught up with Kerry Taylor, owner of Silks Cheltenham to discover more about the fabulous styles in store as well as some interesting facts about her business.
Tell us about Silks
I recently took over Silks in September from Anne Forsyth and Susan Hayes who ran the business for around 30 years. I really wanted a new challenge to sink my teeth into and as soon as I walked into the store, I knew that it was meant to be.
We are really proud to offer a quality selection of designer occasion wear, one of our most popular being Mother of Bride outfits as well as show stopping styles for cocktail parties & Race Week. We also stock a range of alternative and casual pieces not to mention our stylish range of jewellery and accessories.
My favourite look for Autumn really is the new black LOVE jumper from James Lakeland; it’s perfect paired with leather look leggings and boots. I also adore our Fur Capes and our variety of cosy knitwear too and think that they’re a must have for any Autumnal look.
What are your greatest achievements?
Personally, my greatest achievements include running a successful recruitment business as well as renovating my family home and now I’m really excited to see what the future holds for me with Silks.
What is your history/heritage?
Silks of Cheltenham is now in it’s 31st year of business providing special occasion clothing and we also have a wide range of clientele from all over the country.
The business was set up by partners Anne Forsyth and Susan Hayes who wanted to ensure that clients received their utmost attention to make shopping a truly wonderful experience.
If there is one essential item to wear with every outfit, what would it be?
A chic pair of leather gloves and a matching scarf and hat are always essential when planning an outfit for a cold winter’s day!
For those warmer days, I would definitely recommend our collection of real pearl jewellery…but I definitely think that pearls are amazing all year round!
What’s your favourite thing about Montpellier Courtyard?
My favourite thing about Montpellier Courtyard has to be the luxury community feel and everyone is just so friendly so I enjoy coming into work everyday.
What can you tell us about your Spring Collection?
We’ve got some really exciting styles coming in for Spring 2020 including more labels for everyday wear and a stunning cream and pastel wedding collection – Something to suit everyone really!
What trends do you think will be popular in 2020?
I definitely think that floaty long styles and flowing pleats are going to be a popular trend in 2020.
I did recently spot a few celebrities wearing some of favourite James Lakeland pieces but my lips are sealed!
How has 2019 been for Silks?
2019 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me personally and although my Silks adventure has only just begun, it’s definitely onwards and upwards!
