Cheltenham International Film Festival 2023

This 2023, the Cheltenham International Film Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary with exciting changes. The festival is shifting to new dates, running from September 15th to 24th, and finding a new residence at the heart of Cheltenham town center in Cineworld with additional screenings at Parabola Arts Centre, The Roses (Tewkesbury) Deya Brewery, and Cheltenham Cricket Ground.

The Festival welcomes Ken Loach (pictured above) on 18th September to premiere his last and farewell film, The Old Oak, a moving tale about a traditional mining community’s struggle with survival and the changing profile of that community with re-located refugees. Ken’s social ideals have long featured in his films including The Old Oak. Two of his films The Wind That Shakes The Barley and I, Daniel Blake received the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival. One of nine directors to win the award twice.

This milestone event promises a diverse lineup, featuring fresh films from across the globe, timeless cinematic classics, and an exciting expansion into television content. Additionally, the festival is introducing new live events and will be graced by the presence of esteemed guest celebrities.

The International Film Festival remains committed to captivating its vibrant audience by showcasing the finest in global cinema. It does so by presenting films that provoke thought, ignite inspiration, and provide entertainment. The festival's dedication extends to thought-provoking documentaries that shed light on important issues, as well as short films crafted by emerging talents in the industry. Additionally, the festival pays homage through tributes to honor the remarkable contributions of celebrated artists to the enduring heritage of cinema excellence.
